A new approach after a long series of linear works reflecting a continual fascination with female figuration.
These new pieces occupy, nay, inhabit their
spaces. They are not linear; they are volumetric.
Generational form, pregnant/egg-like, iconic of
birth, rebirth, solidity, and re-growth; the simple
forms are solid almost passive, static. There is
a bird-like motion fitting with egg symbols. The
figures no longer stand on the floor but perch on
furniture, tables and chairs just as I do.
Experimentation going back to the origins of my art leads to images of fecundity and creativity. A new set of symbols and icons has emerged. I cannot escape the female figure. New materials and new questions lead to new shapes. Elements shift importance, shape gains weight.
