Cement and clay, clay and cement—heavy, hard, fragile, dependable, media controlled through years of practice and manipulation. The urge to try something new comes along and I attempt another media, try a different approach, relinquishing control. I have no idea what will happen or even if the approach will work. Suddenly enforced experimentation leads my forms in new directions encouraging me to new ideas and practices. These experiments demonstrate new approaches, new ideas, or just happen, amazing me with a result.
